“Made by Noemi is characterized by the idea that each and every article of underwear fulfils a certain set of demand that makes them the obvious choice in every owner’s wardrobe. They stand out through their classic simplicity with fine details and colours that highlights the general impression.”

"When working with this collection I got very interested in Steve McQueen in general and his movie ”Le Mans” in particular. Not so much for the racing scenes, but for the look and feel of the late 60s, early 70s. The simple, clear colors and clean lines went straight into this Made by Noemi collection.

An even greater source of inspiration for me is the woman by his side, Ali McGraw. And as far as style goes, I see a connection between her and Vanessa Redgrave, as she appeared in Antonioni’s ”Blow-up”. What they have in common is that they’re not silly and insecure girls, but independent and confident women, with a sense of style to die for – just like the women I design for.

In ”Blow-up”, the mood is charged as Thomas, the photographer, takes the mysterious Jane’s (Vanessa) picture and later lures her to his studio apartment. The room is rough, with a low ceiling and visible beams. Despite her never having been there before she owns the situation and keeps her authority. The esthetics of the movie is typical of the 60s, with that graphic element that I got me going in “Le Mans”.

Also, the mood in “Le Mans” is busy and there’s no time for messing around, all focus is on the race – everything else has to take a backseat. This is similar to how I view underwear in one’s daily life: It should be fast, simple and very pretty."
